Cambodia eight
spent an absolutely hilarious night out with a dutchman and a refugee from cameroon named "bob." we started a fussball tournament in this small cambodian locals bar in siem reap. they both have been living here for a few months so have come to know the ins and outs of the city. they showed me a place that sells peanut butter and peperidge farms oatmeal cookies, pretty pumped about this. fussball is refered to as "baby foot" in africa, bob thought the term fuss ball was utterly ridiculous but he teamed up with with me regardless. i am absolutely terrible at baby foot and despite bob's skills we went down to a pair of cambodian 17 year old girls in the second round. bob was not happy. i bought him three beers for one dollar. bob was happy.
all dogs look the same in southeast asia. i guess they just all have slept together for so long that they have wiped out all breeds. somewhere the australians got involved because all of the dogs look much like dingos....? no such thing as dog racism here which is pretty refreshing. i have been also noticing many grammatical and spelling errors in my texts. i want everyone to understand that i really could care less.
went back to the temples for a little while today, this time minus my two overachieving australians friends who put me through quite the athletic ringer. the day after a 13 hour bike ride don't count on sitting down much. the temples still have not sunk in yet, another day in absolute awe. the coolest thing i have ever seen.
the road side noodle joints are by far the best food that you can get here. i have been frequenting this one little place for a few days now with the dutchman and we eat every night with the whole family for about $1.25. the meal consists of either a noodle dish packed with vegetables and fish or a coconut curry dish served with rice and two anchor smooth cans (best beer in cambodia). headed to thailand, excited but really am sad to leave this amazing country. i love cambodia.

hey michael, fussball is called baby foot in france too, and the kids here absolutely love playing it. don't worry, i've also gotten crushed by some girls in baby foot. i'm keeping up with your blog and all of it sounds amazing! have a good trip; i'll keep reading!
Hey Michael!
Interesting about those Cambodian dogs; the dogs in Mexico, especially in Sayulita, all looked like they had the same great-grandparents. Sounds like Cambodia may have to move up on our "must visit before we're too old" list. Your photos are amazing! Glad you're eating well!
Lots of love,
Mom and Dad
