Thailand five

of las vegas

as sad as it was, i have left koh chang with much of my heart left behind. bus broke down, what a shock. ten hours later im in bangkok. where to start... a wild combination of las vegas, hong kong, and that blurry channel 99 that your mom and dad would hate to know you spent hours watching. i have never seen anything like this place and due to the family friendly nature of this blog will not be able to share some of what i have seen. the street food here is amazing, pad thai for a dollar and you can even get fake dread locks installed while you eat. i did finally eat a bunch of insects as well. that is a soy flavored grasshopper in my mouth which i chased down with a killer combo of beatles and worms. really not that bad. staying on koh sam road, which is the backpackers jump off. everyone that comes through southeast asia uses this charm of a city as their base.

the thai new year (sakron festival) is in full swing. in america we pay ridiculous prices to eat very small quantities of food and drink enormous amounts of low grade liquor. in thailand you participate in the worlds biggest water fight and throw powder in peoples faces. did they create this holiday for me? i love water fights and i love antiqueing peoples faces. thursday, the day before the ceremony starts was my favorite. only kids are starting to blast people with their h2o pistols. this inspired me to do the same, i picked up a fresh new super soaker 1500 and it was on. since seinfelds last episode, there is nothing better to do on a thursday then chase kids around the city of bangkok with a high powered water gun. my friends arrive tonight, i will instantly transform from one inconspicuous tan farang (white man) to a mass of pasty very conspicuous americans.
